EDM Challenge #118 Draw some hair

This actually needs some touching up, so I may replace the image
after I've done that. But I want to post it today because I might
wind up putting it off way too long and I'm trying to stay active.
.
Also, I used a line from a song I have already used, which I hadn't
planned on doing. But I thought of another image I want to use for
the song I first thought of, and so I chose to use this one. I'll do the
other one later.
.
The lyrics are from "Tangled up in Blue"

OhMyBuddha! You may recall,my friend, this is my all time favorite Dylan song! I flipped out when I saw this AMAZING piece of art!!!

I may have said this before but I think I could do a whole book on just that song. It is chock full of things to draw or paint.

Thank you so much for your kind words, jolene! And I agree, it IS a good song!

Great imagery and drawing. It has a real "end of the century" look to it - one of my favorite styles.

I love this, it's so beautiful! Love the colors, love the style (looks a bit like Mucha!)and the cool composition - awesome!

Tres nuevo! This is lovely -- the pose -- the colors, all just right!

Good eye! I actually have been reading a bit about Alphonse Mucha lately. This has the tiniest bit of him in it. It would have more, but I'm not that good yet. His stuff, although most of it was commercial was wonderful and I look forward to the day I can do something like he did. I could copy his stuff pretty easily, but to actually do my own with his flair and style would be pretty hard. Plus my book is so teeny. :o)
.
Thanks Gary!

LOL! While I was responding to Gary's comment, Kazumi came on and mentioned Mucha! haha! Yes, that's who is influencing me lately. Not on everything, but man, he wa good.

Thank you kazumi and Christie! I appreciate it!

Hate to admit it, but I had to go look up Alphonse Mucha. I think you've managed to capture quite a bit of his style here! It is wonderfully done!

I always learning something reading other EDMer's blog posts! I never knew that artist's name - Alphonse Mucha. I've seen his work here and there and always thought, who is that artist? Now I know! I love your piece - and what a great interpretation of the challenge!

Thank you Trish. It was great fun...including the two drawings I failed at. Learned from them though.

Dan, Phyllis and Martine thank you so much. Your words mean so much. The encouragement and support we all need is so abundant in this group. We are lucky to be among so many supportive and talented people, aren't we?
Everyone, thank you again.

I must say I absolutely adore the result! The nice flow of her hair, and the pattern on her dress... so much details that requires high level of patience and attention ^^
Colors are lovely too, I've always liked earthy colors, and expression is stunning!

Ellen Burkett said...

Alex, thank you so much. I'm so glad you like it. I am also drawn to warmer, earthier colors. This one was so much fun to do...took a while, and it wasn't always easy but it was fun.

Wonderful! It reminds me of Muncha´s hair. Great retro style.

This is beautiful! I really like your sense of humor and also how you incorporate/interpret music lyrics into your artwork. What fun ideas!

Ellen Burkett said...

Wow! Thank you so much Tinker! The music part gives it an extra fun thing to play with, that's for sure. Thank you for your kind comment!

This is absolutely beautiful! One of my favourite artists is Alphonse Mucha, this is very much like his style, with your own personal twist. Lovely!

Ellen Burkett said...

I love Mucha's work as well and he came to mind as soon as I read the hair challenge. I did intentionally try to capture his style but more subtly...didn't want to "copy" him really, just learn from him.

Thank you so much for your comment and for noticing the Mucha style!

I L.O.V.E. this drawing! The perfect image to go with my favorite Dylan song!

Ellen Burkett said...

Thank you Jill. The trouble with that song is that I keep coming up with other things I want to do for it. There are hundreds of other songs, but the imagery is so rich in that song that I keep getting called from my brain to do another picture! :o)

I am just discovering your blog and admiring the lovely collection of drawings you have! Although I am reading that you were inspired by Mucha, this lady also reminds me Waterhouse.

Ellen Burkett said...

Well, I thank you. I am humbled. I see what you mean but his paintings have such depth and richness! Mine are flatter and no where near as full, but then I could aspire to reach him someday. I don't think I have that many years left! HA! Thanks Minerva!
