EDM Challenge #292 ~ Draw a night scene

.
One of my favorite lines. I have had a picture stuck in my head about this one for decades. This one isn't as good as the one in my head but it's close!
.
The lyrics are from "Mr. Tambourine Man". If you're having a bit if trouble reading them they are "Just to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free."

I love it! I love the joy, and the self-absorption in her pose...and you've captured night perfectly.

Gorgeous work Ellen! =) Lots of motion in this one, well captured as mentioned by all.

My last comment has seemed to vanish into the ether...trying again: Love this! Such spirit! Love the colors and the feeling of it all. I really like the recurring motif in your pictures of the patterned cloth too. Did you paint this from a photo or from your head?

Beautiful art work! I would love to put this in my home, it is so joyful.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments. So generous of you all.

Dan, yes, that fabric seems to keep recurring, doesn't it? It have always loved to draw fabric, but only recently patterned cloth. And yes, I made up the fabric in my head. But the woman, not as much. I saw a little box of canasta cards and she inspired the body postion. I'm going to post her under my drawing, if I can.

Thanks again, everyone!

It's a magical picture! Her movement is full of grace, the colors are deep and rich (love the little shiny touches of her bracelets and earring!). And your art always has this velvety aspect that goes so well with a warm night! Awesome! (and the quote from the song is beautiful, and very evocative!)

I recently bought Cathy J's new Journaling book and I was drawn into your artwork. I love the rhythm and beat you have brought to light in this painting. Thank you for sharing. Marguerite
