EDM Challenge #125 Draw a bird

My son thought this one should say "When your rooster crows
at the BEAK of dawn" which I thought was pretty funny, but decided
against. I may one day do a series of drawings with plays on words
like that but not this time.
The lyrics are from "Don't Think Twice, it's All Right".

Wow that rooster has such awesome orange colors that pop on my monitor. Thanks for providing the large resolution to really appreciate that! He's great & I second your son's comment!

Thank you Trish! But the truth about the resolution is I don't know how to change it! haha! Especially on the drawings I haven't like so much I might have changed them. Then again, might as well show errors and all, huh? Thank you so much. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

What kind of paper are you using or is it a sketch book? The reason I ask is because you must have a lot of patience because you've included the entire space in your work! Great job!

Peachtreeart~~It's just one of those small (3.5"x 5.5") Moleskines with the smooth paper. I don't know if I'll use another one after I fill this book. It's aleady coming undone and I think I'd like to try loose pages for a few reasons. I found the paper I think...a whole ream of 8.5" x 11" for about $10.00 at a paper company. Very similar anyway. Then again, I might try another size Moleskine. Anyway, that's what I am using now. And I AM patient with some things I work on and not at all with others.

Oh! And Thank you, Peachtreeart!

Son is as creative as mom! I wish I had your sense of style when it comes to adding lettering like this.

I've always loved clicking into your drawing and have it blown out in maximum resolution and just admire the colors, and the strokes. This is definitely no exception Ellen, it's so rich and lively. My dad has a pet rooster, and his name is Lucky. This one sure reminds me of him ^^
Your son's remark cracks me up :) Oh yeah, thank you over and over again for all your lovely comments and wishes.

Thank you so much Sheila!
.
Alex I'll have to be more careful and meticulous (not a strong point with me). I didn't know anyone was really clicking on the pics!

Beautiful - fantastic composition. All your pages are awesome, actually : ) ! Love your colors, the lettering, your take on the challenges, and your choice of text!

Ellen, Fantastic rendition of a rooster! Love the colors.

Clicking on your pics is what it's all about when visiting. Your work is marvelous! Love this one and the whimsy of your son's observation! Roosters are the most misunderstood members of the chicken yard, I believe. You have given them a status to crow about!

Thank you Ramona, Kazumi, Melissa and Pattie!
.
Pattie, I hadn't realized people clicked so often. I usually only do it if the image is small or if I'm trying to figure out what medium was used. What a surprise! You learn something new every day, huh?
.
Thank you all so much for your positive comments! I surely do appreciated them...and YOU!

Take that "D" off of "appreciated" and it'll read better. Sheesh!

And I clicked too and appreciated all the details, the stokes. Beautiful work!

I love this page! The rooster is gorgeous and that is one of the best songs! If you go to loose papers keep in mind a border on the side in case you want to bind them into a book later. Even knowing I wanted to put pages into book form, I forgot to do this and ended up cutting off the edge of my work.

Thanks freebird. We're all so used to that song that I think a lot of people don't even realize the insight and unique qualities it has. And he was so young when he wrote it. Very unique for its time.
.
I actually DID think about the paper having a border for the book. (Learned that from the umbrella fiasco, I guess. :o}) I even thought that before I punched the holes I would put a strip of tape along that edge so it would resist tears. I'm sure I'm forgetting something though. I think you could glue an edge on any you forgot to allow extra for. I think.
